For several years now, Modest Needs has been assisting people in short term financial crisis who don't qualify for help from government or other non-profits. It's a fabulous organization created and run with integrity by one guy. He has set up a special Katrina relief fund with the goal of assisting folks who have already evacuated, and folks who were not affected but have opened their homes to victims.
