Me and mine (people and pets) are safely harbored down the rural road about 65 miles away but as Dallas is the next metropolis (admittedly I am having city withdrawl pains)....
As one friend sagely mentioned, after 9-11 New York survivors fortunately had each other nearby to lean on. One unfortunate side effect of Katrina's massive evacuation is the vastly widespread displacement of our communities. We are wrenched so far apart and swathed in silence by the ongoing cell phone network breakdowns as to remain generally alone while trying to reweave the fabric of our lives....a difficult enough task with your friends at hand but alone...
