I would like to take up some forum space to get this message out. I am working with a group in Atlanta who is putting forth an effort to consolidate as much of the assorted databases and forums that have sprung up to help families find missing members. Believe me there are a lot out there and everyone is making such a huge effort to help. As more and more databases and forums spring up the information overload is getting tremendous.

Hopefully we will be able to work together to aid these people and a central data location would be the best solution.

If you have access and authority to send data all of the information can be found at the above site.

There are actually two services being offered, the first is collecting and consolidating data from outside sources and the other is data collection.

If anyone has a web space available, we have some banners for folks to place on their pages. Every little bit helps. There are two sets of banners for both projects.

Thanks so much for everyone's help, and Hurculean efforts to help the hurricane survivors. Every little bit helps.

Thanks for listening

I have seen a lot of IT offers on craigslist.org --- websspace, webmaster etc... go check it out...

I'm trying to think of a group that would have the resources to put people on the ground with wireless laptops to help the epopole who are not net savvy make use of all the assistnace that is made availalbe online.... I don't really know where to go next -- all ideas are welcome.

    <<Welcome!

Thanks for your interest in helping with the Katrina PeopleFinder Project! Even an hour or two of your time over your long Labor Day weekend will make a big difference. All you need to help is an internet connection and the ability to copy data onto a form. No other fancy tech skills are required.

What we're asking you to do

It's simple: We'd like you to "claim" chunks of raw data about Katrina victims that we're gathering from hundreds of websites, and then enter that data into an online form so people can actually search through one consolidated database and find information about their loved ones.

Below are the detailed, step-by-step instructions:>>
