Diesel fuel is desparately needed in farming communities. While it is certainly right that people be cared for first, another tragedy is happening on the farms of south Mississippi and Louisiana. Many of them raise poultry and dairy animals, and are heavily dependent on electrical power to run ventilation fans, milking machines, milk cooling tanks, and feed processing equipment.
While most forms of communication are down, I managed to talk to my cousin Jene in Tylertown and he said the lack of fuel will soon contribute to more serious economic damage.
My family was thinking of trying to get a flatbed truck full of gas in drums from Houston to MS. Anyone think this is even feasible yet? I don't wanna go down there to end up as part of the problem.
